Consultation on the proposal for Ormiston Park Academy to transfer to Unity Schools Partnership

From 8 September 2025, we are launching a stakeholder consultation on the proposal for Ormiston Park Academy to transfer from Ormiston Academies Trust to Unity Schools Partnership early 2026.

This follows two years of positive collaboration between Ormiston Park Academy, Ormiston Academies Trust and Unity Schools Partnership, which has already supported improvements at the school. We believe this next step will provide the additional support and local partnerships needed to secure the very best education and opportunities for our students.

The consultation will run until Friday 26 September. During this time, we invite all stakeholders to share their views and feedback. Further details, including letters, FAQs and feedback questionnaire can be found below.

The academy will continue to uphold its distinctive character and remain rooted in the local community. This proposal is about support and improvement, not changing what makes the school unique.

Naturally, the “Ormiston” brand would be removed, but more details will follow for any changes that would be made to the school name or brand, with opportunities for collaboration and co-production as we identify and create an identity which is reflective of this positive and ambitious chapter for the academy.

Students will see continuity in their day-to-day school experience. What will strengthen is the support available to staff and leaders, helping to further raise standards and provide more opportunities for students.

Again, there may be some small changes to school branding, but any of this would be introduced gradually and with a view to minimising change.

More details will follow when the proposals progress.

The stakeholder engagement period will run until 26th September, giving staff, parents, governors and other stakeholders the chance to share their views.

All responses will be carefully considered before any final decision is made by the Department for Education, in consultation with the Trusts involved.

Yes. You are encouraged to attend the staff meeting on the 15 September to share your views and ask questions. These discussions will be focused on the general proposal. You can also do this by contacting [email protected].

Further information regarding an employment/TUPE consultation will follow in due course.

The stakeholder engagement period will conclude on 26 September. Once it concludes, feedback will be carefully reviewed, and a final decision and next steps will be made. This will be communicated at the earliest opportunity. If approved, the transfer would take effect in January 2026, if timings run to plan. However, these things can always be subject to delays and change, so we would be sure to inform you of developments throughout.
