We strive to ensure, that during their time at Ormiston Park Academy, every student has the opportunity to experience the arts and culture.
Ormiston Park Academy is a Trailblazer school.
Thurrock Trailblazer is an innovative programme of high-quality arts and cultural activities, visits to heritage sites and specialist teacher training, that boosts creative learning in schools and accelerates students’ development. In partnership with Thurrock Council, the Royal Opera House is working with local, regional and national arts organisations to deliver cultural education in Thurrock.
So far, Thurrock Trailblazer has worked with over 700 teachers in Continued Professional Development programmes. Thurrock Trailblazer cultural activities offer a wide range of experiences to our students.
Other pupil experiences Ormiston Park Academy aims to offer include:
Students are encouraged to explore new experiences and find new talents and interests. We firmly believe enrichment activities are fundamental in helping students to be happy and confident at school therefore impacting positively on their progress and performance.
Our enrichment programme incorporates before school clubs, break time clubs and after school clubs. Visits to the Academy from external organisations and guest speakers will also be provided.
Providing students with opportunities to engage in new experiences and extend their learning beyond the classroom is something the Academy values highly. Curriculum areas provide educational visits and trips across the academic year. Visits and trips are, at times, provided free of charge by the Academy. However, depending on the nature of the trip, we will sometimes have to ask for parents/guardians to contribute towards the cost. We do not wish to exclude any student from any experience due to financial circumstances so we urge parents/careers to contact their child’s Head of Year to discuss any support we may be able to offer in these circumstances. You will receive information regarding planned visits and trips throughout the year.
