Physical Education

Participation in Sport develops students’ advanced skills and techniques in increasingly demanding situations. Students are taught to use strategies including developing skills in a variety of roles e.g. performer, coach, official. Students are taught the importance of exercise in relation to personal, social and mental health and well-being and are equipped with sufficient knowledge to develop their own exercise and activity programmes in and out of school.

The aims and objectives of PE is to enable students to:

  • perform effectively in different physical activities by developing skills and techniques and selecting and using tactics, strategies and/or compositional ideas;
  • develop their ability to analyse and evaluate to improve performance in physical activity and sport;
  • understand the contribution that physical activity and sport make to health, fitness and well-being.
