Citizen of Tomorrow
At Ormiston Park Academy, we are committed to preparing our students to become confident, informed and responsible members of society. Our Citizen of Tomorrow programme, delivered during KS3 Friday form time, is designed to help students engage with current affairs, understand the world around them, and explore the issues shaping their future.
This initiative is firmly rooted in our PARK values:
- Perseverance – Students learn to question, analyse, and challenge information, even when topics are complex or unfamiliar.
- Aspiration – Discussions encourage students to think big, broaden their horizons and consider their place in a rapidly changing world.
- Responsibility – By exploring real-world issues, students develop a deeper sense of social responsibility, and an understanding of how their choices can make a difference.
- Knowledge – Weekly engagement with current affairs strengthens cultural literacy, critical thinking, and informed decision-making.
Citizen of Tomorrow promotes a strong sense of belonging, giving students a safe and supportive space to share opinions, debate respectfully and learn from one another. It encourages every student to find their voice, strengthen their values and recognise the important role they play within the OPA community and beyond.
This programme forms a key part of our wider commitment to shaping thoughtful, curious, and active citizens, young people ready to contribute positively to society, today and in the future.
